All equity markets gained in the second quarter of 2007, reports the latest Defined Contribution Universe Summary from Mercer Investment Consulting (IC). The S&P 500 Index rose 6.3%, while the fixed-income asset class turned in a slightly negative quarter. Money market instruments edged up 1.3%, and the balanced asset class gained 3.5%. International equity markets rose 6.4% in the second quarter. Mercer IC's quarterly report analyzes returns of various funds and helps institutional investors evaluate their mutual fund managers' performance against other funds and asset class benchmarks.
