Update: Institutional plans post positive first-quarter returns

The median corporate, public, and foundation/endowment plan opened 2007 with positive quarterly results, according to a survey by Mercer Investment Consulting (IC). The median corporate plan saw a first-quarter gain of 2.1%, while public plans and foundation/endowment funds gained 2.5%, Mercer IC's quarterly Summary Performance of US Institutional Portfolios reports. On a one-year basis, corporate plans had average gains of 10.9%, while public plans and foundation/endowment plans earned 11.8% and 11.6%. Over a 10-year span, all three plan types have averaged annualized gains of 9.0% to 9.8%.  (Update, 5 Jun 2007, 1 page)
